Technologies
The technology we use
We keep this list short on purpose, so we can know each tool well and keep the systems we build consistent and easy to maintain.
Backend & data
The server side, where the business logic and the data live.
Rust
For backend services where speed and memory use matter most. Its compiler catches memory bugs before the program runs.

Golang
Our main backend language. It runs fast on modest servers, which keeps hosting costs low.

PostgreSQL
Our default database. It is open source, so there are no license fees.
Redis
Used for caching and background queues, so pages stay quick when many people use the system at once.
Web apps
What your customers see and use in the browser.

React.js
For screens with a lot of interaction, such as dashboards and forms.
TypeScript
JavaScript with type checking. Many mistakes are caught while the code is being written instead of after release.
Modern JavaScript
For simpler pages that do not need a framework. This website is one of them.
Mobile apps
Apps for Android and iOS phones.

Kotlin
For native Android apps. The GBpass Android app was written in Kotlin.

Swift
For native iPhone and iPad apps.

Flutter
One codebase for both Android and iOS. We suggest it when the budget does not cover two native apps.
Infrastructure & delivery
How the software gets to the server and stays up.
Docker
We package server applications as containers, so the version we test is the same one that goes live.
Cloud Native
If a service stops, it restarts by itself.
Debian
The Linux distribution on our servers. Each release is supported for about five years, so servers do not need frequent upgrades.
